President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he expects to receive monthly funding from European countries in the amount of one billion dollars each to purchase American weapons.

He made the announcement during a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

According to Zelenskyy, Norway can make a significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's security by providing air defence systems and supporting maritime defence.

«Norway has joined the PURL programme, which allows us to buy weapons from the United States and fill this programme with at least a billion dollars a month, as I have already said,» Zelenskyy said.

In addition, Zelenskyy said that during his talks with the Norwegian prime minister, he discussed cooperation in the production of drones, as well as joint investment projects that should help increase pressure on Russia and bring the end of the war closer.

As a reminder, Germany has pledged to provide Ukraine with nine billion euros annually over the coming years.
