The Norwegian government will provide Ukraine with NOK 6.5 billion (about €550 million) to purchase drones and technology from Ukrainian and European manufacturers.
This was reported by the press service of the Norwegian government.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Har Støre is convinced that this will strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities.
«Drones play a vital role in Ukraine's struggle for self-defence. They are important both for protecting critical infrastructure and for use on the front line. Norway's contribution will significantly improve Ukraine's ability to carry out the necessary surveillance and operations using drones», said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
It is noted that this is the largest purchase of drones by Norway from foreign companies. It is part of a large-scale programme of support for Ukraine for 2025, approved by the country's parliament. Its total budget is 50 billion kroner.
In addition, the Norwegian government plans to provide further support in the areas of maritime security, development of autonomous systems, military training, and cooperation with the Nordic and Baltic countries.
As a reminder, Norway plans to develop and manufacture unmanned underwater vehicles directly in Ukraine.
