Luxembourg to provide €90 million in support to Ukraine: for energy and defence

Luxembourg will provide ten million euros to the Energy Support Fund and 80 million in military assistance to Ukraine.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

The Memorandum of Understanding on energy support was signed during a meeting with Xavier Bettel, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg.

According to the Prime Minister, the funds provided under the energy support will be used to implement projects to restore and strengthen Ukraine's energy security.

The parties also discussed the development of the defence sector.

«He thanked for the defence support and participation of Luxembourg in military coalitions. They discussed the development of innovations in the defence industry of our countries and the needs of Ukraine on the battlefield. This year, Luxembourg plans to allocate 80 million euros for military assistance to Ukraine», Denys Shmyhal wrote.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has received a batch of IT equipment funded by the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The total value of the aid is €7.5 million.
