Sienkevych presents «The Badge of Honour of the City of Mykolaiv»: first three awards to go to monobank co-founders and Danish ambassador

A new award was presented in Mykolaiv — the «Badge of Honour of the City of Mykolaiv». The first to receive it will be businessmen, co-founders of monobank Oleh Horokhovskyi and Mykhailo Rohalskyi, as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen.

This was announced by Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych in a conversation with journalists, according to NikVesti.

The award was established for those who, even if they were not city residents, proved themselves during the war and helped Mykolaiv residents.

«The city has an award «For Merit to the City», which we present to citizens who have made a significant contribution to the development of Mykolaiv. But there are people who proved themselves during the war without living here. We decided to create this award for them,» explained the mayor.

The authorities planned to present the awards to their recipients symbolically on the City Day. However, the award ceremony will take place at another time.

«We planned to present the awards today, but none of them could come. We are presenting them now and will hand them over during their visit,» the mayor added.

The design of the award was created by Mykolaiv sculptor Yaroslav Rosnianskyi. The work on the award lasted about three months. According to the author, the symbolism has several meanings: the blood shed by the defenders of Mykolaiv, purity and protection of St Nicholas, the patron saint of the city.

According to Yurii Lyubarov, Head of the Department of Culture, the badge will be presented in a set: the main badge on a ribbon and the so-called a small version for daily wear on the lapel.

Earlier, the mayor of Mykolaiv said that monobank co-founder Oleg Gorokhovsky, who registered a subsidiary in Mykolaiv — a branch of «Kilobaits1024» — has already paid tens of millions of hryvnias to the city budget.
