The average wage in Mykolaiv region rose by 3 per cent, but debts reached almost ₴89 million

In the Mykolaiv region, wages rose slightly in May this year; however, at the same time, debts owed to employees increased significantly, reaching almost 89 million hryvnias.
This is according to data from the regional statistics office, as reported by NikVesti.
The average wage for permanent employees in May 2026 was nearly 27,000 hryvnias, which is 3.3 per cent higher than in April. The region ranked 9th among Ukraine’s regions in terms of this indicator.
The highest wages are earned by workers in the electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply sector — over 52,000 hryvnias. The lowest incomes are in the arts, sport, entertainment and recreation sector — just over 12,000 hryvnias.
It should be noted that as of 1 June this year, wage arrears had risen to 88.7 million hryvnias. The region’s share of the total national debt stands at 2.3 per cent.
The manufacturing sector accounts for the lion’s share of the arrears — almost 65 per cent. This is followed by agriculture, forestry and fisheries — over 27 per cent; water supply, sewerage and waste management — 7.3 per cent; and other economic activities — 0.7 per cent.
It should be noted that in April this year, wage arrears stood at 60 million hryvnias.
