In the Mykolaiv region, demand for job vacancies fell by 44% over the year and by 27% over the month, despite the fact that the number of job advertisements rose by 12% and salaries increased by 15%. A similar discrepancy between employers and jobseekers is also evident in other frontline regions.
This is according to an analysis by OLX-Robota, as reported by NikVesti.
In the Odesa region, the number of vacancies fell slightly by 2% over the year, but rose by 10% over the month, whilst salaries increased by 20%. Despite this, interest in jobs fell by 21% over the year and by 7% over the month.
Meanwhile, in the Kherson region, the number of vacancies rose by 7% over the year and remained stable over the month, whilst salaries rose by as much as 67%, but demand for jobs fell by 38% over the year and by a further 24% over the month.
The largest number of vacancies in frontline regions is for sales staff, and their number has risen by 2% compared with May 2025. Salaries in this category range from 14,500 hryvnias in the Sumy region to 16,300 hryvnias in the Kherson region.
Drivers are the second most in-demand role, with salaries of up to 32,500 hryvnias on offer in the Kharkiv region, and 30,000 hryvnias in the Kherson region, whilst in the Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Sumy regions, the pay rate stands at around 27,500 hryvnias.
Demand remains consistently high for general labourers and cooks in the Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, where salaries range from 15,000 to 19,000 hryvnias.
At the same time, across the frontline regions as a whole, the number of applications is falling for almost all popular vacancies: the sharpest decline is among sales assistants, construction workers, seamstresses, car mechanics and sales consultants. Conversely, interest is growing only in certain roles, notably general labourers, baristas, cashiers and drivers.
Looking specifically at the Mykolaiv region, the labour market in May this year centred on several key professions. The highest number of vacancies was for sales assistants — 189. Next came general labourers (in construction) — 186 vacancies — and drivers — 183. There was also steady demand for porters — 98 vacancies — and cooks — 84 vacancies.
It was previously reported that in the Mykolaiv region, the average wage in April this year stood at almost 26,000 hryvnias, whilst wage arrears in the region have risen once again.
