Vegetables have gone up in price, whilst butter has become cheaper: how prices changed in the Mykolaiv region in February

In February, vegetables, fruit and services – particularly taxis and mobile phone services – saw the sharpest price rises in the Mykolaiv region. At the same time, some products became cheaper: butter, chicken and milk.

This is according to data from the regional statistics office, as reported by NikVesti.

Thus, in February this year, prices in the region rose by 1.4% compared to January. By way of comparison, the increase in January was 0.8%, whilst in December 2025 a slight fall in prices was recorded — by 0.1%.

On an annual basis, prices in February were 7.7% higher than in February last year. Overall, inflation since the start of 2026 stands at 2.2%.

What has become most expensive

The most noticeable price increases in February were for vegetables — up 14.5%. Following a sharp fall in the summer of 2025, they have been rising for several months in a row.

Fruit prices rose by 8.1%, beef by 7%, and buckwheat groats by 6.6%.

The price of bread also rose — by 3%. For this product, this is one of the highest figures in the last year.

Services and non-food goods

Among services, taxis saw the biggest price rise – by 11.7%. Mobile phone tariffs rose by 9.1%.

Fuel and lubricants also continue to rise in price — in February, prices for these rose by 2.9%, and this is not the first month of growth. Pharmaceutical products rose in price by 1.8%.

What has become cheaper

At the same time, some products became cheaper in February. The price of butter fell the most — by 6.3%.

Poultry meat fell by 4.1%, and milk by 3%. Prices for lard (by 2.9%) and sugar (by 2.8%) also fell. According to statistics, prices for meat and meat products have been falling for the third month in a row.

It should be noted that after falling in January, egg prices have risen again — by 2.6%. In contrast, the price of sunflower oil has remained almost unchanged — down 0.3%.

It should be recalled that in January 2026, the average wage of full-time employees in the Mykolaiv region stood at just over 25,000 hryvnias, which is 15.5% less than in December 2025. By this indicator, the region ranked 7th among Ukraine’s regions.
