Sienkevych: Another ₴30 million is needed to complete the park near school №20, but Mykolaiv budget does not have this money

Another 31.7 million hryvnias is needed to complete the construction of the «Mykolaivskyi» park near school №20 in the Inhulskyi district.

This cost became known after adjustments to the design and estimate documentation, said Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych during his press conference on the results of the first six months of work on 30 July, according to NikVesti.

However, these funds are not currently available in Mykolaiv's budget, the mayor said.

«Experts have analysed the progress of the work, updated the project, and the cost of completion is currently 31 million 700 thousand hryvnias. As you can imagine, today we do not have this amount of money to invest in this park. Therefore, the completion of its reconstruction is postponed, but in the near future we will carry out landscaping and install new benches to make it at least comfortable to stay, even if it is not modern, because we do not have the money yet,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

As a reminder, in 2023, the Housing and Utilities Department of Mykolaiv City Council intended to spend more than two million hryvnias on the maintenance and care of the city park «Mykolaivskyi».

As it is known, in December 2020, the reconstruction of the park «Mykolaivskyi» began. The bidding for the reconstruction was won by the company «Blahoustrii-NK». The amount of the reconstruction of the park was 13 million 868 thousand 844 hryvnias, of which: 1 million 247 thousand 808 hryvnias was planned for 2020 and 12 million 621 thousand 36 hryvnias for 2021. The contractor was supposed to complete the work by 1 April 2021.

However, the process was delayed after a scandal involving the cutting down of oak trees in the park — the contractor's employees cut down the trees to lay a paving slab road. At the time, the director of the Department of Housing and Communal Services, Serhii Koreniev, said that something would have to be sacrificed to improve the disorderly facility.

As a result, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, said he wants to design pedestrian areas in the city around trees to avoid cutting them down. He promised to plant young trees in the square in autumn.

It is worth noting that in November 2019, the Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Mykolaiv City Council issued a permit to demolish 15 healthy trees to the company «Blahoustrii-NK», which was engaged in the overhaul of Mykhailo Oleksandrov Park. In December 2020, police officers conducted searches at the Department of Housing and Communal Services in connection with the renovation of this park. The police reported that the cost of reconstructing the Aleksandrov Park was overestimated by 200,000 hryvnias.

It was also reported that in the park «Mykolaivskyi», where reconstruction work began at the end of 2021, unknown «built» a small house made of contractor's tiles.
