Odesa plans to increase funding for the aftermath of shelling — it is proposed to add 10 million hryvnias to the programme «Unbreakable Odesa».
This became known on 7 May, during a meeting of the Odesa City Council's commission on housing and communal services, according to NikVesti.
Oleh Hrebeniuk, Director of the Department of Municipal Economy, informed that important measures are already being taken to eliminate the consequences of the shelling, including technical inspections of the damaged buildings and structures, as part of the programme «Unbreakable Odesa».
Due to the new shelling and requests from the prosecutor's office and relevant authorities, it was proposed to increase the funding for the programme by 10 million hryvnias in 2025.
«Due to recent arrivals in Odesa and requests from the Prosecutor's Office and other relevant authorities, it is proposed to increase the funding for the programme for 2025 by 10 million hryvnias. This will allow us to promptly carry out dismantling works, carry out damage assessment and take measures to restore the infrastructure,» said Oleh Hrebeniuk, Director of Municipal Economy.
As a reminder, on the night of 1 May, Odesa was attacked by Russian drones. As a result, two people were killed and five others were injured. Search services are still unable to locate the elderly couple who lived in the destroyed house.
A 16-storey building in the Kyiv district of Odesa was heavily damaged. The upper floors were severely damaged, and there is now a risk that the building may collapse.
Earlier it was reported that Italy would allocate €45 million for the restoration of damaged architectural objects in Odesa. The funds will be used to repair five cultural monuments.
