EIB provides €300 million to Ukraine for energy and infrastructure rehabilitation

The European Investment Bank will provide Ukraine with €300 million to restore its energy sector and critical infrastructure.

According to Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the relevant agreements were signed in Brussels during a meeting with EIB President Nadia Calvino.

Out of the €300 million, the bank will provide €100 million for investments in district heating, energy efficiency, and the purchase of necessary equipment, including power or heat generation plants.

As previously reported, €100 million will be used to implement projects aimed at improving water supply and sewerage.

Ukraine will receive another €100 million to restore water, heat and sewage facilities, as well as to modernise basic social services in the education, healthcare and housing sectors.

«During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of joint projects and the launch of new ones, in particular in the areas of transport, social infrastructure, energy efficiency and energy. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the EIB has mobilised more than €2 billion in emergency funding,» added Denys Shmyhal.

Earlier it was reported that in Ukraine in 2025, the total financing gap for reconstruction needs is almost ten billion dollars.
