The project is a continuation of initiatives aimed at increasing the awareness of the population about explosive ordnance and mine safety in regions affected by military operations. This initiative is supported by BBC Media Action and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which provides local media with the opportunity to create and distribute content aimed at reducing the risks associated with mine threats.
As part of the second stage, NikVesti will continue working on creating materials in various formats, including analytical articles, news, video content, photo reports, as well as interactive tests and infographics. The main goal is to inform the population about safe behavior in areas contaminated by explosive ordnance and to raise awareness of the risks to the civilian population. Particular attention is paid to communities directly exposed to mine threats, particularly in rural and frontline areas.
The project includes both content support and educational activities for journalists—training and mentoring in the field of media management and content creation—which helps raise the professional level of the NikVesti team and ensures the maximum impact of the materials.
This initiative also provides funding for institutional development, enabling the editorial office to expand its technical capabilities, improve production processes, and increase the volume of publications on the topic of mine safety.
