The project “Development of Political Journalism for Building a Healthy Democratic Ecosystem in Ukraine” is implemented by the Ukrainian Media and Society Fund (UMSF), operating under the NGO Internews Ukraine, with financial support from Switzerland. The initiative aims to support independent Ukrainian media outlets and civil society organizations that produce journalistic content about political processes and societal changes in Ukraine.
The project seeks to strengthen the capacity of media to cover political developments during wartime and the period of post-war recovery. Supported activities include the production of journalistic materials explaining the work of state institutions, the activities of political parties, Ukraine’s European integration process, preparation for future elections, issues of national and local governance, and economic recovery. Particular emphasis is placed on analytical and explanatory journalism that helps audiences better understand political decisions and their impact on society.
The project also focuses on strengthening the sustainability of independent media by encouraging the development of new monetization models, including subscriptions, membership programs, advertising solutions, and other revenue streams. Supported initiatives are implemented for a period of up to nine months within a grant program open to Ukrainian media organizations and NGOs.
