Donetsk region (Donetsk Oblast) is located in eastern Ukraine, with Donetsk as its administrative center (temporarily occupied since 2014). It is a key industrial area of the country, known for its natural resources, including coal mines, metallurgical, and engineering enterprises. Since 2014, much of the region has been affected by military conflict, leading to extensive infrastructure destruction, a humanitarian crisis, and human rights violations. Donetsk region has also become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance and the struggle for territorial integrity.
