The Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (Kakhovka HPP) is a large hydroelectric station located on the Dnipro River in the Kherson region of Ukraine. It is the last in the cascade of Dnipro HPPs and plays a crucial role in providing electricity to the southern regions of the country.

The plant was built in the 1950s as part of the Dnipro cascade project to supply energy for the industrialization of the region. The Kakhovka HPP had a capacity of 357 MW. Its main functions included:

  • Generating electricity.
  • Regulating water levels in the Kakhovka Reservoir.
  • Providing irrigation and water supply for industry and agriculture.

In 2023, the dam of the Kakhovka HPP was destroyed during the war, resulting in catastrophic consequences: large-scale flooding, infrastructure destruction, and an ecological crisis.
