On Saturday, 10 May, a large-scale sports and recreational event was held on Soborna Square in Mykolaiv «Active Parks — Mykolaiv Region Race». About 600 citizens took part in it.

This was reported by the correspondent of NikVesti.

According to the organisers, the goal of the race is to attract more people to physical activity and improve the mental health of the townspeople.

The event started at 10 am. Volunteers and organisers registered participants, who were traditionally divided into categories. There were different distances for the participants: for children from 100 to 300 metres, and for adults a race from 1 to 10 kilometres, as well as Nordic walking of 5 kilometres.

It is worth noting that this year's race was joined by Jakob Torrild Hansen, Head of the Danish Embassy in Mykolaiv, and Oleksandr Bereza, a Mykolaiv deputy and Head of the Central District Administration.

«I will be running today on «ten». The event is perfectly organised. And there should be such activities for both children and adults. All Mykolaiv residents need such a «hangout». Fortunately, our sky defenders give us this opportunity. Of course, everything should be within the safety limits, but if there is an opportunity, you should take it,» shared his impressions of the race Jakob Torrild Hansen.

As a reminder, traffic in Mykolaiv was restricted throughout the day to accommodate the sporting event.
