As of June 7, only 27% of large thermal power plants in Ukraine remain in working condition, the rest are damaged or destroyed.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, on the air of the national telethon broadcast by the «1+1» channel.

According to the Prime Minister, 42 power units were destroyed. Only 27% of large thermal power plants remain in working condition, the rest are damaged or destroyed. 20 hydropower units are currently idle — that's another 1.3 GW of capacity.

«We are working on increasing the import of electricity. With the European Union, we have a physical capacity of 2.2 GW, currently we are politically allowed to import 1.7 GW. We are currently negotiating with the European Commission so that the ability to import is as open as possible,» said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister emphasized that, in addition, Ukraine is working on the restoration of the energy sector, work is ongoing on the protection of the preserved capacities, as well as on the decentralization of electricity generation.

We will remind you that on the night of June 8, an additional unit of one of the nuclear power plants started working, which will improve the situation in the power system for a short time.

Also, Director of the Fixed Internet Development Department of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Yuriy Matsyk, said that during power outages, as a result of the mass transition to mobile Internet, the load on the networks of mobile operators increases sharply.
