Deputies updated the development program of the Mykolaiv region for 2024: added the repair of shelters in schools and hospitals

Deputies of the regional council made changes to the economic and social development program of the Mykolaiv region for 2024. Repair of shelters in two schools and three hospitals was added to it.

They made the relevant decision on June 27 during an online session of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, writes NikVesti.

It is about the repair of the anti-radiation shelter of the Stepkivka school and the overhaul of the Novomykolaivka Lyceum until 2025, as well as the preparation of the project for the construction of the Chervona Dolyna Lyceum until 2026. This will be handled by the Department of Town Planning, Architecture, Capital Construction and Support of Development Projects of Mykolayiv Oblast.

At the same time, it is about the construction of a new protective structure for civil protection in the communal non-profit enterprises «Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital» and «Mykolaiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital» until 2025.

Also, as Svitlana Hryhorieva, Acting Director of the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture, noted during the session, changes to the program provide for the overhaul of the MRI room in the three-story medical building of the Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital.

46 deputies voted «for» making changes to the program, «against» — 0, two more deputies abstained.

Prior to this, deputies of the Mykolaiv Regional Council expressed their desire to check the condition of protective structures in medical institutions. At the same time, the construction of new civil defense protective structures is planned on the territory of the regional clinical hospital and the regional children's clinical hospital.

Inadequate condition of hospitals

In July 2023, during his visit to Mykolaiv, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, visited the regional children's clinical hospital. There he talked with children undergoing treatment and drew attention to the condition of the wards in the medical institution. He noted that the chamber lacks cornices, curtains, and air conditioning. After that, the regional children's hospital began to repair the surgical department and installed air conditioners in eight wards.

And after this incident, the head of Mykolaiv RMA Vitalii Kim drew attention to the low speed of work of the temporary commission of the regional council on the inspection of medical facilities. He also called on the residents of Mykolaiv to send complaints and suggestions regarding changes in the medical system to e-mail, so that these appeals will be considered by the appropriate group. After anonymous complaints, Vitalii Kim announced the dismissal of the chief doctors of the medical facilities if he was convinced of their incompetence.

Currently on the territory of the regional children's clinical hospital at 21 Mykolaivska Street of the regional and clinical hospital at 1 Kyivska Street are planning to build new shelters.

Another four hospitals of the Mykolayiv region received medical equipment, the purchase of which was financed by the Japanese government.

At the same time, the municipal non-profit enterprise of the Mykolaiv City Council «City Children's Hospital №2» announced a tender for the reconstruction of the 2nd floor of the inpatient building to accommodate the Department of Surgery, Orthopedics and Traumatology.

In Mykolaiv, they also want to create a working group to audit the economic efficiency of 7 medical and sanitary facilities of the primary level.
