In Mykolaiv, it is planned to form a list of vessels that will ferry the population in case of bridge malfunction.

Such a proposal was voiced by the first vice-mayor of the Mykolaiv city mayor Vitalii Lukov at a working meeting with representatives of water transport parking bases in Mykolaiv, NikVesti writes.

According to him, Mykolaiv should be prepared for emergency situations, such as the undermining or failure of bridges for other reasons. As an example, he gave the beginning of a full-scale invasion, when the bridges were opened, and people, in particular medics, had to cross to the other side.

«We had a problem during the war, when the bridges were destroyed, and the population, including military and medical personnel, had to get to the other side, but they could not do it. We need to think about what to do if such a situation arises. So that we can count on those vessels that can quickly descend to the water. And if such a situation arises, as with the Antonivskyi bridge,» said Vitalii Lukov.

Currently, the city authorities are engaged in collecting contacts of owners of piers and parking bases, who are ready to provide boats in the event of an emergency.

We will remind you that on November 11, 2022, the Antonivskyi bridge was destroyed in the Kherson region. Then, after hitting the bridge, two spans of the road surface simply fell into the water.

Note that in December 2023, it became known that a bypass road is planned to be built near Mykolaiv. Currently, the planned start of the first stage is the construction of an interchange on the M-14 highway. This project was developed jointly with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This is important in order to decongest Mykolaiv highways and repair the Varvarivskyi and Inhulskyi bridges, the State Agency for Reconstruction clarified. The travel time around Mykolaiv will be only 8 minutes, while now it takes 1 hour through the city.
