BBC: Ukrainians can spend up to 20 hours a day without electricity or heating in winter

If Russia continues to attack Ukrainian power plants, then in the worst case, when winter comes, Ukrainians may spend up to 20 hours a day without electricity and heating.

This was reported by the BBC with reference to the energy company DTEK.

It is noted that part of the problem is that Ukrainian thermal and hydroelectric power plants are difficult and expensive to repair.

«Some will take years to repair, while others may never come back online,» Ukrenergo said.

We will remind, the head of Mykolayiv RMA Vitalii Kim said in a comment to NikVesti that according to the new model of «Ukrenergo» for the distribution of electricity between regions, the regions will be de-energized according to queues, and not according to limits. However, the Mykolaiv region cannot avoid long-term blackouts, because it is located in the same energy system.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the Ministry of Energy and «Ukrenergo» should develop a resolution that would regulate «fair schedules of turning off the lights for consumers.»

The government explained that the outages will last until August-September. And in winter, a deficit in the energy system is predicted even at high temperatures.
