Swimming restrictions: where to swim and relax this summer in the Mykolaiv region

There will be no beach season this summer on the Black Sea coast in the Mykolaiv region. Beaches in Kobleve and other coastal towns remain closed due to military risks. Instead, residents of the region are being offered the chance to relax by rivers, estuaries and in nature parks.
This was reported to NikVesti by the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.
Why the coast remains closed
The main reason is safety. The coast remains dangerous due to the risk of shelling, sea mines in the water and near the shore, as well as the proximity to the combat zone, the Regional Military Administration reported.
That is why there are no plans to open beaches in Kobleve or other coastal resorts this year.
«This decision was taken taking into account the position of the military, the State Emergency Service and the security services,» the regional military administration added.
Where you can still swim
Despite the ban on seaside holidays, several official waterside recreation areas will remain open in the region.
According to the State Emergency Service, swimming is permitted at five locations:
- «Rainbow» beach in Pervomaisk;
- the town beach in Pivdennoukrainsk;
- ‘Island of Love’ beach in Kryve Ozero;
- the town beach in Nova Odesa;
- the grounds of the «Pelahiivskyi» holiday camp in the Bashtanka district.
In other communities, restrictions or bans on swimming are in place, the Regional State Administration added.
They emphasise that only officially designated recreational areas, where conditions have been created for people to be near the water, are safe. These areas must have lifeguard stations and conditions must be in place to ensure people’s safety near the water.
Where to go instead of the seaside
With beaches closed, holidaymakers are being encouraged to visit the region’s inland natural sites.
Among the most popular destinations are Myhiia with its rapids on the Southern Bug, the Aktovskyi and Arbuzynskyi canyons, Radonove Lake, the Tylihul Estuary and the Granite-Steppe Pobuzhzhia.
The Regional State Administration also recommends paying attention to the Pryinhulskyi Regional Park and the «Yelanetskyi Steppe» Nature Reserve, where bison can be seen.
In recent years, local gastronomic routes have also been gaining popularity: wineries, lavender fields, snail and oyster farms, the Regional State Administration added.
As a reminder, in the Odesa region, there are plans to increase the number of officially open beaches during the 2026 summer season. This applies only to those locations that meet safety requirements and have shelters.
