The director of «Mykolaivvodokanal» has stated that the municipal enterprise is cutting administrative posts, but is not making staff redundant

Hennadii Iziumov, Director of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivvodokanal», has announced that the company is restructuring its management. Administrative and managerial roles are being cut, whilst staff are being offered engineering and technical positions.

He spoke about this during the «Results of the First 100 Days» briefing on Thursday, 28 May, according to NikVesti.

«This is primarily due to the need to align administrative and management staff with operational requirements. We also plan to cut certain administrative and management posts. This is because these posts have overlapping functions. These are targeted decisions, and I want the specialists whose posts are to be cut to be offered engineering and technical vacancies within the company in line with their specialism. In other words, this is not about cutting staff numbers, but only about cutting posts,» explained Hennadii Iziumov.

According to him, only one person has been made redundant as a result of the job cuts. Five administrative and management positions have already been cut.

«To date, the only position we have cut is that of commercial director, who left by mutual agreement. That is the only position that has been cut. And our shortage is, first and foremost, in emergency repair workers. These are excavator operators and electricians. In other words, we need specialists in precisely these trades,» noted Hennadii Iziumov.

It should be noted that earlier, deputies from the «Sanation» group demanded an official investigation into the dismissal of Vasyl Telpis. They pointed out that there were various versions of who exactly had made the decision to dismiss him, and therefore asked the authorities to officially explain the reasons and legal grounds for such a decision.

According to Hennadii Iziumov, Vasyl Telpis resigned by mutual agreement.

«I have absolutely no objections to Vasyl Stepanovych as a person. I hold him in high regard. We had a conversation. He wrote a letter of resignation by mutual agreement, and I signed it. He is now working as a senior specialist at the Regional Water Resources Office (RWR), specifically at the treatment works,» said Hennadii Iziumov.

As a reminder, Hennadii Iziumov, director of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivvodokanal», announced that from 1 July 2026, salaries and pay rates for the company’s employees are set to increase by 30%.

It should be noted that earlier, the Mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, criticised the work of employees at the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivvodokanal», citing poor-quality repairs, constant repeated digging up of streets and a failure to maintain the area after work has been carried out.

Earlier, Oleksandr Sienkevych told NikVesti that talk of alleged preparations for the privatisation of the «Mykolaivvodokanal» utility was a manipulation and an attempt to discredit the company’s new director.

Scandal at Mykolaivvodokanal

As a reminder, employees of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivvodokanal» have spoken out against the company’s new management and the Supervisory Board, accusing them of unprofessionalism and allegedly preparing the company for privatisation.

The Water Utility’s Supervisory Board, together with Director Hennadii Iziumov, stated that the company is in a critical financial state due to a prolonged governance crisis, ineffective management and systemic operational issues.

Also, during a meeting between staff and the new CEO on 15 April, the dismissal of Technical Director Vasyl Telpis was discussed. An audio recording of this conversation is in the possession of the editorial team at NikVesti. Employees reported that the dismissal came as a surprise to them, as Telpis had worked at the company since the 1980s and had been acting as head following the death of Borys Dudenko.

At this meeting, Hennadii Iziumov stated that he had not made the decision to dismiss Telpis and claimed that it had been taken by the Supervisory Board. However, the Supervisory Board denied having taken any decision to dismiss Vasyl Telpis.
