The largest employer among businesses in Mykolaiv turned out to be the regional power distribution company: 2,865 employees

The joint-stock company «Mykolaivoblenergo» has been included in the ranking of Ukraine’s largest employers in 2026. The company employs 2,865 staff.

This is evidenced by data from the annual ranking of the largest employers in the regions, published by OpenDataBot.

Ukrzaliznytsia remains the country’s largest employer with a workforce of 169,952 employees. At the same time, the state-owned enterprise’s workforce has shrunk by 4.9% over the year.

In the private sector, the leader in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast is ATB-Market (46,649 employees), whilst in Poltava region, the largest workforce is recorded at the Aurora chain, where the number of employees stands at 14,590 (+16% over the year).

Structural changes have taken place in the fuel and energy sectors. In Volyn, WOG has become the regional leader with 5,490 employees — the 1.7-fold increase is due to the consolidation of legal entities.

Furthermore, in 10 regions of Ukraine, local power distribution companies remain the largest employers. In Zhytomyr region, the UPG network (Ukrpaletsystem) leads the way, having increased its workforce to 4,154 employees (+8% year-on-year).

The agricultural sector and food industry retain key positions in the centre of the country. The Vinnytsia Poultry Farm (MHP Group) employs 6,636 people, which is 11.3% more than last year. In the Kyiv region, the «Fora» network leads with 9,462 employees (+3%).

Industrial centres and production sites in western Ukraine are seeing a reduction in staff numbers. Zaporizhstal employs 8,039 people (-6.3%), whilst the Flextronics plant in Zakarpattia has 2,408 employees (-6%).

In regions with a lower concentration of large businesses, such as Chernivtsi or Kherson regions, the largest employers are local companies: Taystra Group (1,163 people) and Taurt Medical (426 people) respectively.
