In Mykolaiv, residents have complained about «dead» routes where there is little transport

Residents of Mykolaiv have appealed to the management of «Mykolaivelektrotrans» to increase the number of trolleybuses on city routes №3, №5, №7, №11 and №12. However, they were told that there is sufficient transport.

This was discussed during an online broadcast by Yurii Smetana, director of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivelectrotrans», according to NikVesti.

According to residents, there is a shortage of transport on these five routes, and the intervals between services are too long. As a result, passengers often cannot wait for trolleybuses, and the routes themselves are described as ‘dead’.

Commenting on the situation, Yurii Smetana disagreed with this assessment of the routes’ performance. According to him, there are enough trolleybuses on them.

«I cannot confirm your assertion that the routes are dead, because all routes are designed and their timetables and service intervals are based on the current passenger flow on these trolleybuses. We monitor the passenger flow every day, and right now this number of vehicles is sufficient to transport passengers,» he noted during the live broadcast.

According to the company’s director, the organisation of electric transport operations is based on an analysis of actual passenger numbers, which are regularly monitored to adjust route operations.

As a reminder, a new trolleybus route No. 14 will begin operating in Mykolaiv from 28 April, running along the route «Mykolaiv-Vantazhnyi — Kazarskyi Street».

We would also like to remind you that fares across all public transport in Mykolaiv have been increased by an average of 33%. The new fares will apply on minibuses and buses from 27 April, and on electric transport from 4 May.

Mykolaiv is also changing the rules for paying fares on electric transport. From now on, after scanning a QR code, passengers will have just 10 seconds to pay — otherwise they will have to scan it again.

At the same time, a new ticket will be introduced on Mykolaiv’s electric transport from 4 May — the so-called ‘conductor’s ticket’ for those who have not paid their fare. It will cost 300 hryvnias. If passengers refuse to pay, the police will be called.
