Fares for public transport in Mykolaiv have been increased. From 27 April, this applies to minibuses and buses, and from 4 May, to electric transport as well.
The decision was taken today, 22 April, by the executive committee of Mykolaiv City Council, according to NikVesti.
The fare increase was justified by rising costs of fuel, materials and spare parts, as well as an increase in the minimum wage.
The fare for minibuses travelling up to 10 km has been increased to 18 hryvnias, and for journeys over 10 km to 20 hryvnias. In addition, travel to outlying neighbourhoods has now become more expensive:
- to the Varvarivka neighbourhood — 20 hryvnias;
- to the Matviivka neighbourhood — 25 hryvnias;
- to the Velyka Korenykha neighbourhood — 25 hryvnias;
- to the Malaya Korenykha neighbourhood — 30 hryvnias.
Pupils in Years 1–12 will pay 50% of the standard fare from 1 September to 1 June. However, they must carry a valid pupil travel card.
In addition, a decision has been made regarding fares on the municipal buses operated by the «Mykolaivpastrans» municipal enterprise. The fare for transporting a passenger and luggage will be 20 hryvnias. Pupils will travel free of charge on buses during the period of martial law. Once this period ends, the fare will be 50% of the standard rate during the school term.
On electric transport — trams and trolleybuses — fares will increase from 4 May.
The draft decision of the executive committee states that the cost of travel on electric transport, depending on the duration of the ticket, will be as follows:
- a single ticket purchased from the driver or at a kiosk — 15 hryvnias;
- a 24-hour ticket for trams and trolleybuses — 40 hryvnias;
- a two-day pass for trams and trolleybuses — 75 hryvnias;
- weekly pass for trams and trolleybuses separately — 150 hryvnias each;
- a weekly combined pass for trams and trolleybuses — 225 hryvnias;
- 15 days’ pass for trams and trolleybuses separately — 285 hryvnias each;
- 15 days combined for trams and trolleybuses — 430 hryvnias;
- for 1 month, separately for tram and trolleybus — 540 hryvnias each;
- for 1 month combined for tram and trolleybus — 810 hryvnias.
In addition, a single ticket purchased via a QR code will cost 12 hryvnias, and 8 hryvnias with a student card.
For students, a travel pass will cost:
- 1-month pass for trams and trolleybuses separately — 270 hryvnias each;
- for 1 month combined for trams and trolleybuses — 405 hryvnias.
The fine for fare evasion will be 300 hryvnias. The number of journeys covered by a tram and trolleybus travel pass is 90 hryvnias, and 60 hryvnias for a single journey.
Currently, the fare for electric transport is 10 hryvnias when paid to the driver, 15 hryvnias on municipal buses, and 15–20 hryvnias on minibuses. Thus, on average, the cost of travel has increased by 33%.
As a reminder, at the end of March 2026, Oleg Kuksa, Deputy Head of the Transport, Communications and Telecommunications Department of the Mykolaiv City Council, told NikVesti that private transport operators had submitted proposals to increase fares on minibuses.
