In Novyi Buh, pipes worth 14 million hryvnias will be purchased to repair the water pipeline. The funds were provided to the community by international partners.

This is evidenced by data from the ProZorro public procurement system, reports NikVesti.

According to the tender announcement, the municipal enterprise Water Supply Networks is purchasing polyethylene pipes for drinking water supply purposes. According to the technical specifications, the polyethylene pipes must be of various diameters, totalling 1,000 and 7,700 linear metres.

A sanitary and hygiene certificate is also required, confirming the safety of the material for use in drinking water supply systems. The delivery deadline is no later than two months from the date of signing the contract.

The starting price for the procurement was 21 million 143 thousand hryvnias. After reviewing the bids, the contracting authority selected «Instalplast» LLC as the winner, which offered the lowest price — 14 million 88 thousand hryvnias. The contract with the winner is currently expected to be signed.

The purchase of the pipes is being funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Earlier, the mayor of Novyi Buh, Maksym Lahodiienko, reported that the community had signed a memorandum with this organisation and that the funds would be spent on repairing the water pipeline from Sofiivka to Novyi Buh.

According to him, Novyi Buh has received around 19 million hryvnias from international partners . Under the terms of the cooperation, the community has also allocated a further 3.68 million hryvnias.

The community will be able to purchase materials with these funds, but the terms of the cooperation do not cover the execution of the works. Therefore, there are plans to attract further international funding.

«We will look into opportunities to allocate funds for pipe installation in the second half of the year, as they still need to be laid. We may approach the Red Cross. Last year, UNICEF provided funding for both the pipes and their installation. We worked on a co-financing basis and, for around 10 million hryvnias, laid 3 kilometres and 700 metres of the network,» said Maksym Lahodiienko.

It should be recalled that in August last year, the mayor of Novyi Buh, Maksym Lahodiienko, explained that due to the dilapidated state and leaks in the water supply network, water is supplied to local residents' homes on a schedule three times a day.

Earlier still, residents of Novyi Buh complained that the water from their taps was not of drinking quality. At the time, NikVesti sought comment from Mykola Maistrenko, head of the «Water Supply Networks» municipal enterprise of the Novyi Buh City Council. He stated that the water supplied to residents’ taps comes from the Sofiivka Reservoir and undergoes several stages of purification beforehand. According to him, the water is filtered to a standard of quality that makes it suitable for domestic use.
