The municipal enterprise Mykolaivpastrans plans to purchase windows for the buses in its own fleet. To this end, the company has announced a tender with an estimated value of 1.4 million hryvnias.

This is evidenced by data from the Prozorro public procurement system, reports NikVesti.

According to the tender documentation, Mykolaivpastrans intends to purchase 34 windscreen units, 3 rear window units and 2 side window units. The contractor must deliver these to the company by 31 December 2026.

Mykolaivpastrans told NikVesti that the buses require replacement of the old glass due to temperature fluctuations caused by the winter frosts and the condition of the roads in Mykolaiv.

«During January and February, there were difficult weather conditions in Mykolaiv, as well as a significant deterioration in the condition of the road surface. Buses operate on public roads, many of which are in poor condition. Constant vibration from driving on such roads accelerates wear and tear on vehicle components, including the formation of cracks and damage to the windscreen,» explained Mykolaivpastrans.

They added that the company’s buses have also been involved in accidents, meaning they now require replacement glass. Another reason is a shortage of spare parts, according to the transport company.

«Under martial law, the market for spare parts has been significantly restricted. The choice of automotive glass is limited, and its quality is often lower than in previous years, which affects its resistance to mechanical stress and service life,» they reported.

As a result, the company says, it is precisely due to the poor condition of the roads, accidents and a shortage of high-quality components that there is a need to purchase new glass for the buses.

As a reminder, in January 2026, Dmytro Teslenko, director of the municipal enterprise Mykolaivpastrans, resigned from his post. He attributed this to poor communication with Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych. The mayor responded that Dmytro Teslenko’s work had been unsatisfactory.

At the end of 2025, Oleksandr Sienkevych appointed a new head of Mykolaivpastrans — Dmytro Danilenko, a former employee of the Mykolaiv Thermal Power Plant.
