The Voznesensk City Council will appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to allocate over 22 million hryvnias from the state budget to increase salaries for teaching and social workers.

Councillors will consider the relevant motion at the council meeting.

The city council explains that at the end of 2025, the government adopted resolutions to increase the basic salaries of teachers and staff providing social and rehabilitation services. However, there are no funds available to implement these decisions.

It is noted that the budget of the Voznesensk community for 2026 has already been approved, so new expenditure could place an additional financial burden on the local treasury.

According to the city council’s estimates, a 2.5-fold increase in salaries for social workers will require approximately 10.2 million hryvnias in additional expenditure in 2026. A further 12.2 million hryvnias is required to increase teachers’ salaries by 40%, including staff at nurseries and out-of-school educational institutions. In total, this amounts to approximately 22.4 million hryvnias in additional expenditure for the community.

The City Council notes that without state support, this could lead to staff cuts, an increased workload on staff, the transfer of staff to part-time work, as well as a deterioration in the quality of educational and social services.

Therefore, councillors will request that funding for these costs be provided from the state budget, as legislation provides for compensation to local budgets for costs arising from decisions made by the central government.

It was previously reported that Pervomaisk is short of 39.3 million hryvnias to pay teachers’ salaries and increase pay for staff in pre-school and out-of-school education.

In this regard, councillors will appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and people's deputy Maksym Dyrdin with a request to allocate the necessary funds from the state budget.
