Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed the underground facility on Bankova Street where he worked during the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion.

He released a video of this facility in his address.

«This office, this small room in the bunker on Bankova Street, is where I had my first conversations with world leaders at the beginning of the war. I spoke with President Biden here, and it was here that I heard: 'Volodymyr, there is a threat, you must leave Ukraine immediately. We are ready to help you with this.' And I replied that I needed weapons, not a taxi,» said the head of state.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, it was from this room that he coordinated the work of his team, held meetings with the government and the military, and conducted international negotiations. After working in the shelter, the president would go upstairs to record his addresses to the Ukrainian people.

«Our team was here, the government, daily meetings with the military, phone calls, searching for solutions — everything necessary for Ukraine to survive. Weapons had to be delivered. Medicines and food were delivered to cities blockaded by the enemy. So that there would be life, for which Ukraine is fighting so desperately. And, to be honest, well, it was different, and there was both official and non-literary language, because every aid package, every sanction against Russia, every batch of weapons — all of this had to be really fought for,» he said.

We remind you that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived in Kyiv on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
