A sewage leak occurred in the Matviivka neighbourhood. The sewage pumping station was not equipped with a generator and stopped working due to a power outage.
Currently, there is no leak from the sewer well, according to a comment by NikVesti in the municipal enterprise Mykolaivvodokanal.
«This concerns the sewage pumping station located in Matviivka among high-rise buildings. The pump stopped on Saturday, 7 February, and the sewage leak was caused by a blockage. On the same day, our employees removed the blockage and the leak from the sewage well stopped. A check on Sunday, 8 February, confirmed that there was no leak. And today, 9 February, at 7 a.m., there was indeed a power outage in Matviivka, but there is no leak from the well,» said Oleksandr Zubov, technical director of the Mykolaivvodokanal wastewater disposal service.
The water utility plans to install another concrete sewer ring this week, which will create «additional volume for wastewater and prevent further leaks».
They also added that they plan to ask international partners for help in purchasing a generator for the pumping station.
«The capacity of our pumping station allows us to receive wastewater without pumping for more than 24 hours, so there has been no urgent need for this until now. Now, due to the use of GAV, we are forced to ask donors to purchase a generator. And then we will install an autonomous power supply for the pumping station,» said Oleksandr Zubov.
We would like to remind you that residents of the second entrance of building №15 in Mykolaiv are complaining about the emergency condition of the internal sewage system and the lack of an adequate response from the management company KZHEP Zoria.
