Two teams of specialists from Mykolaivoblteploenergo are completing their work to restore heat supply to residential buildings in Kyiv after shelling. Utility workers are working in extremely difficult conditions, sometimes 10-14 hours a day. They are scheduled to return from their assignment tomorrow, 3 February.

This was announced during an open staff meeting on Monday, 2 February, by Mykola Lohvinov, director of OKP Mykolaivoblteploenergo, according to NikVesti.

According to him, teams are involved in work in various areas of the capital.

«The teams are helping to restore heating to residential buildings and are working in different areas. The buildings there are quite complex: there are buildings with 18 entrances and 18 floors. There were problems with cooperation between management companies and the entire heat and power sector, but now they have more or less found a common language, and people are working adequately. They work up to 12-14 hours a day,» said Mykola Lohvinov.

According to the Mykolaiv City Council, citing media outlet 0512, 12 specialists from the company were involved in the work.

Volodymyr Shynkaruk, head of the second district heating network, noted that Mykolaiv utility workers are currently restoring heating in four residential buildings. He explained that due to shelling and untimely drainage of water, the heating systems in many buildings froze, leading to numerous damages.

«We are defrosting the systems, replacing pipes, trying to start them up, and somewhere there are bursts. The systems in the buildings are very old, and because the water was not drained from the system in time after the shelling, it froze in people's radiators, so we have to cut them off somewhere. We are working as hard as we can, 10-14 hours a day, because we understand that people want warmth and comfort,» explained Volodymyr Shynkaruk.

The specialists are working in difficult conditions: Yurii Alkhimov, a mechanic at the company, noted that one of the buildings where work is ongoing is about 300 metres long.

The Mykolaiv utility workers will be in Kyiv from 23 January to 3 February. According to Vladyslav Khriapochkin, head of the centralised repair workshop, heat supply has already been restored to some of the homes.

«People are satisfied, very grateful and full of praise,» added Yurii Alkhimov.

As previously reported, two teams of Mykolaiv utility workers are helping the capital restore heat supply after Russian shelling.
