Pivdennoukrainsk plans to increase the cost of water supply and sanitation for residents.

The relevant draft decision has been published on the official website of the city council.

The document states that the changes were initiated by the municipal enterprise «Heat Supply and Water and Sewerage Services». The reasons given for the tariff review are the increase in the cost of electricity, the increase in prices for water supply and sewage services provided by the Pivdennoukrainsk Nuclear Power Plant, and the increase in the minimum subsistence level.

According to the draft decision, the new tariffs should be as follows:

  • for centralised water supply — 49.34 hryvnias per cubic metre including VAT (currently 43.08 hryvnias);
  • for centralised water disposal — 63.02 hryvnias per cubic metre including VAT (currently 57.60 hryvnias).

It is also proposed to set a special tariff for water disposal for the Iskra health and rehabilitation complex and hydrocomplex facilities. For them, the cost of the service will be 25.86 hryvnias per cubic metre excluding VAT.

The final decision on tariff adjustments is to be made by the executive committee of the city council.

It should be noted that if the decision is approved, tariffs for heating and hot water for the population will remain unchanged for the time being. At the state level, there is a moratorium on their increase for the period of martial law and for six months after its end. Therefore, the cost of these services will remain at the level set in 2022.

We would like to remind you that the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, stated that the current water tariff for the population does not cover the operating costs of the Mykolaivvodokanal municipal enterprise and does not allow the enterprise to function and develop fully.

Earlier it was reported that after the launch of new treatment facilities, the water tariff for Mykolaiv could be up to 100 hryvnias per cubic metre. However, during martial law, it is prohibited to increase it for the population.

Currently, the tariff in Mykolaiv is the one set in January 2022. It is 34.044 hryvnias per cubic metre of water: 17.532 hryvnias for water supply and 16.512 hryvnias for water disposal.

Serhii Sukhomlyn, head of the State Agency for Reconstruction, says that «the cost of water itself will be lower from next year, when solar power plants start operating.» According to him, the cost of water will also be reduced by frequency converters and an automated operating system.

It should be noted that new water treatment facilities for centralized water supply in Mykolaiv are being built with funds saved during the construction of a new water pipeline. Treated water is expected to be available in January, but the water treatment facilities will not be fully operational until March 2026.
