Over 1,000 signs and billboards were removed from the streets of Mykolaiv last year

In Mykolaiv, 1,034 advertising structures were dismantled over the course of a year, most of which were signs and small-scale advertisements.

This was announced by Mykolaiv's chief architect, Yevhen Poliakov, during an open staff meeting at the city council, according to NikVesti.

According to him, 51 of the dismantled objects were large-scale advertising structures, while the rest were signs and small advertisements. Currently, there are 244 structures in the city that still need to be brought into compliance or dismantled.

«There are 244 structures left to repair, and new complaints about the Russian language in public spaces on such signs are constantly coming in. Therefore, this work continues,» said Yevhen Poliakov.

He added that the city authorities are constantly receiving citizens and entrepreneurs who seek clarification on the requirements for placing advertisements.

Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych clarified the most common questions asked by entrepreneurs — regarding the type of structures or the reasons for dismantling Russian-language signs.

«There are significantly fewer of these now (reasons for dismantling Russian-language signs, — note). Now they are asking how to do it correctly. We inform them of the requirements regarding the rules for the improvement of the city of Mykolaiv and the requirements for advertising placement,» replied Yevhen Poliakov.

According to Yevgeny Polyakov, the main complaints concern the timing of notification of dismantling. Entrepreneurs have different opinions about the time it takes to find out about planned work.

It should be noted that in the first quarter of 2025, the Mykolaiv budget received 18 times more revenue from outdoor advertising than in the same period in 2023. Compared to 2024, this is 11 times more.
