Construction waste processing plant in Mykolaiv, photo by NikVestiIn nine months of operation, the construction waste processing plant in Mykolaiv has recycled 4,500 tonnes of demolition waste into building materials.
This was announced by Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych during his report on his activities for 2025, according to NikVesti.
As is known, the construction waste recycling plant in Mykolaiv began operating in the spring of 2025. The project was implemented with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which provided specialised equipment, while the site for the plant was equipped with funds from the city budget.
«Today, we received 6,500 tonnes of debris, of which 4,500 tonnes were processed into crushed stone and various types of building materials,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.
The mayor also added that the city is seeking support from international partners to obtain a concrete production equipment complex, which can be used for the needs of Mykolaiv in the future.
«We have a plan to cooperate with international partners to obtain another concrete plant, where we will be able to use our own funds to produce building materials from construction waste. These can be used for work in the city.
Our goal is to create conditions for a circular economy in Mykolaiv, where waste becomes money. And to save the city's funds, for example, for the creation of various concrete products. This includes paving stones, which will not be purchased but will be produced by the city itself at a minimal cost,» explained Oleksandr Sienkevych.
Recycling of demolition waste in Mykolaiv
The construction waste recycling plant in Mykolaiv began operating in the spring of 2025. The project was implemented with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which provided specialised equipment, while the site for the plant was equipped with funds from the city budget.
The equipment has the capacity to process about 12,000 tonnes of such waste per month, and the resulting material will be used for road repairs.
By the end of 2024, about 120,000 tonnes of construction waste had accumulated in Mykolaiv. As of January 2025, the plant had processed 4,500 tonnes of demolition waste into building materials.
In a comment to NikVesti, Deputy Mayor Serhii Korenev said that the construction waste processing plant in Mykolaiv is planned to be used for the needs of two more regions: Kherson and part of Kirovohrad.
At the same time, communities that want to use the services of the construction waste processing plant after the destruction are offered two options for cooperation. In the first, they can transfer all waste for processing at a lower price, and in the second, they can get the processed material back, but this option will be more expensive.
