The culvert in the Solyani neighbourhood, which caused three neighbourhoods in Mykolaiv to be left without water supply due to an accident, is planned to be repaired for 4 million hryvnias. However, this will only be a temporary solution to the problem.

This was announced by Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych during his report on activities in 2025, according to a correspondent from NikVesti.

Earlier, the Mykolaivvodokanal municipal enterprise reported that repairs to the damaged culvert would continue until 18 January. The complete reconstruction will cost about 46.9 million hryvnias.

In response to a follow-up question from journalists, Oleksandr Sienkevych explained that the sum of 47 million hryvnias includes the laying of a new culvert across the Inhul River. Currently, only emergency repairs are being carried out on the existing pipe, which will cost around 4 million hryvnias.

«We will use the materials we have. Today, they will simply repair this culvert using technical means, figuratively speaking, they will repair the existing pipe. Since it is located 10 metres below the silt, it is not possible to put a «patch» on it at this time. Work is already underway to repair this culvert,» explained the mayor.

We would like to remind you that in Mykolaiv, due to an accident on the water pipeline on 11 January, the water supply was cut off in the Soliany, Pivnichnyi and Ternivka microdistricts.

Later, Mykolaivvodokanal clarified that the culvert's service life had already expired, so this is not a simple repair job.
