Earlier, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych announced on the municipal television channel MART that between 2016 and 2025, the city sold 114 municipal properties.

«Today, we have already signed 58 contracts worth 104.2 million hryvnias. Of these, 85 million hryvnias have already been received by the budgets: 71.4 million to the city budget and 14.7 million to the state budget. VAT is also added to this amount,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

According to him, the funds received from the sale of property are planned to be used to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the same time, the mayor added that some of the properties may be removed from the privatisation list, as it is more economically advantageous for the city to lease them rather than sell them.

In addition, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych recalled how in 2016 he vetoed the city council's decision to privatise 20 properties.

Privatisation of municipal property

In 2021, the process of leasing and selling municipal property through the ProZorro public procurement system began in Mykolaiv. In June 2021, Mykolaiv Deputy Mayor Vitalii Lukov said that there are about 3,500 properties in Mykolaiv that belong to the community. Of these, approximately 1,200-1,300 can be leased. The rest are used by the city for healthcare, education, government offices, etc. According to the deputy mayor, such auctions have helped to increase the cost of renting premises tenfold.

Also, in 2021, a draft decision appeared on the Mykolaiv City Council website on the privatisation through auction of 117 municipal properties, including utility rooms, former boiler rooms, medical facilities, and basements.

At the same time, in January 2024, the mayor stated that Mykolaiv was «not far» from privatising property to fill the budget. In May 2024, the mayor of Mykolaiv said that he was working with deputies on the possibility of selling municipal property through auctions.

In March 2025, the city council announced that it planned to sell 114 municipal properties through auction. These included former boiler rooms, architectural monuments, and non-residential premises.

In April 2025, city council deputies were unable to pass a decision to sell 114 municipal properties through auction.

However, in May 2025, the list was finally approved.
