Bridge on the «Odesa — Novyi Buh» highway in Mykolaiv region to be repaired for ₴88.6 million

In Mykolaiv region, 88.6 million hryvnias is planned to be allocated for the overhaul of the bridge on the P-55 «Odesa — Voznesensk — Novyi Buh» road. A company associated with a member of the Odesa City Council may be a potential contractor.

This is evidenced by data from the Prozorro electronic procurement system, according to NikVesti.

On 24 November, the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Mykolaiv region announced a tender for the overhaul of the bridge at kilometres 174+647 of the national road P-55 «Odesa — Voznesensk — Novyi Buh», along with the approaches to it. The expected cost of the works is 88 million 626 thousand 786 hryvnias.

However, only one bid was received — from LLC «Rostdorstroi», so the auction was not held. The contract is now expected to be signed with the winner.

According to the estimate documentation, the overhaul of the bridge involves renewing the road surface on the bridge and adjacent sections of the road, as well as strengthening the roadway base. The contractor is to remove the old asphalt concrete pavement, compact the road base, arrange a new gravel and sand layer and lay an asphalt concrete layer. It also includes repairs to entrances, junctions and transition zones near the bridge.

According to the YouControl service, «Rostdorstroi» has been operating in the market since 2005 and is registered in Odesa. The ultimate beneficial owners of the company are businessmen Yevhen Konovalov and Yurii Shumaher. The founder of the company is the Austrian company LLC «Juttema AU GmbH», and the head is Oleksii Andriushyn.

Yurii Shumaher is a member of the Odesa City Council from the party «Trust the Deeds» of Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov. Konovalov and Schumacher also own the capital's private enterprise «Kyivshliakhbud».

In addition, journalists have repeatedly drawn attention to the company's ties to the former mayor of Odesa, Hennadii Trukhanov. In particular, «Rostdorstroi» purchases a significant portion of construction materials through the company «Squo», which is controlled by his daughter Kateryna Trukhanova. The company also cooperates with «Avtomahistral-Pivden» — both companies are members of the National Association of Road Workers of Ukraine and regularly participate in procurement as tender partners.

As a reminder, the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Mykolaiv region ordered additional works to repair the national significance road P-55 «Odesa — Voznesensk — Novyi Buh» for 412.8 million hryvnias. Prior to this, in September 2024, a contractor was selected to repair 5 kilometres of the national road P-55 «Odesa — Voznesensk — Novyi Buh» for 507.3 million hryvnias.

Varvarivskyi bridge

At a meeting on 13 October 2023, the government decided to transfer Inhulskyi and Varvarivskyi bridges in Mykolaiv to state ownership. After that, the then Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Mustafa Naiem spoke about plans to repair the bridges.

In 2023, the bridge suffered several breakdowns. The first occurred on 6 December, the second on 20 December. At that time, «ELU Avtodorih» reported that there was an emergency with the structure of a part of the Varvarivskyi Bridge. The third traffic collapse occurred due to the breakdown of a part of Varvarivskyi Bridge on 2 February 2024. On 5 April, the bridge broke down for the fourth time. It turned out that a metal plate on the bridge had come off.

After the repair work on Varvarivskyi Bridge is completed, reverse traffic will be launched. The work is expected to be completed by the end of December 2026. The Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Mykolaiv Oblast plans to spend another 54.4 million hryvnias to repair part of the Varvarivskyi Bridge.

Recently, it was reported that repair work on the Inhulskyi Bridge will begin in Mykolaiv in 2026.
