Voznesensk plans to allocate additional funds for sterilisation of stray animals

Voznesensk plans to continue the programme to control the number of stray animals and provide funds for its implementation.

The relevant draft decision will be submitted to the executive committee of the city council.

The programme, which operates in the community from 2025 to 2027, is to be extended for another year — until 2028 — and the amount of funding is to be revised. Its main goal is to reduce the number of stray animals using humane methods: through sterilisation, vaccination, treatment and keeping animals in a temporary accommodation facility.

According to the draft decision, in 2025, it is planned to allocate an additional 120 thousand hryvnias for sterilisation, vaccinations and veterinary care for both stray and domestic animals. The total amount of expenses will increase to 420 thousand hryvnias.

In 2026, an additional 115,000 hryvnias will be allocated for the maintenance of a temporary animal shelter (total expected cost of 1.1 million hryvnias) and 100,000 hryvnias for the continuation of sterilisation and treatment programmes (total expected cost of 500,000 hryvnias). At the same time, in 2027, funding for the maintenance of such a centre is planned to be reduced by 200 thousand hryvnias (total expected cost of 800 thousand hryvnias).

It is worth reminding that a shelter for stray animals is planned to be set up in Bashtanka. A land plot has already been identified for its location.
