The Housing and Communal Services Department is confident that the World Bank will find money not only for projects, but also for the reconstruction of 54 houses in Mykolaiv

It is promised to rebuild 54 houses in Mykolaiv, for which the World Bank has allocated 150 million hryvnias in reconstruction projects, as part of the second phase of the HOPE project.

This was stated by Ihor Nabatov, First Deputy Director of the Housing and Communal Services Department of the City Council, in a commentary to NikVesti.

«There will definitely be a second stage. The first stage involved the allocation of funds, these 540 million hryvnias across Ukraine, with an equivalent distribution of approximately 2.7 million hryvnias per house. That is, 153 million hryvnias is the amount allocated by the city of Mykolaiv. But this is only the first stage.

Again, both we and the World Bank will get an understanding of the cost. We are already working on the question of who will finance the restoration of these damaged houses and the improvement of these damaged houses under the HOPE project. In any case, the essence of the HOPE idea is both the first and second stages,» explained Ihor Nabatov.

150 million hryvnias from the World Bank for the design of houses in Mykolaiv. What is known?

Mykolaiv is one of the five communities selected under the grant project «Housing Renovation for People's Empowerment «HOPE», funded by the World Bank.

For Mykolaiv, 54 houses were selected and divided into 21 clusters. 150.3 million hryvnias will be spent on their design.

At the same time, the city council says it is not sure whether all fifty houses will be rebuilt by 2027. They promised to develop projects for the reconstruction of high-rise buildings by April 2026.

As of early November, the city authorities announced three tenders to find designers for the overhaul of 20 apartment buildings. Four more procurements, covering 34 buildings, are currently being approved.

In their article NikVesti, they found out that this list includes at least four buildings that already have developed design and estimate documentation.

After that, the Department of Housing and Communal Services explained that procurement under World Bank rules is lengthy — it can take up to three months from the moment of announcement to signing the contract. Therefore, the Department of Housing and Communal Services conducted its own procurement to carry out stabilisation works — measures that helped to protect the building from further destruction.
