The Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital has installed a solar power plant that will provide stable power supply for intensive care units, operating theatres, laboratories and intensive care units.
This was reported by NikVesti.
The project was implemented as part of the DESHU initiative — Decentralised Energy for Schools and Hospitals in Ukraine. The solar power plants are being installed by the Ukrainian-Dutch charitable foundation LifeLine Ukraine with the support of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and Stichting de Boomgaard. Solarge International is the technology partner.
«This is not just technology, it is a guarantee of safety for doctors and patients. We thank our partners from the Netherlands for their support», said Yurii Hranaturov, deputy head of the Mykolaiv Regional Medical Association.
Hospital director Iryna Shabilianova said that the facility is not currently included in the blackout schedules and has electricity around the clock.
«We have solar power stations installed in all our medical buildings to ensure that both the surgical and therapeutic buildings, which houses the cardiology centre with intensive care for patients, operate smoothly. We have already used the solar stations during the summer blackouts, when the» system failed without warning,» she said.
The DESHU project has already installed seven stations in hospitals in Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions and Kyiv. Five more are planned by the end of the year, and a total of 12 medical institutions across Ukraine will have their own solar power plants.
