Mykolaiv residents have used trolleybuses more than 1.4 million times since the beginning of the year. Photo: «Mykolaivelectrotrans»In October, passengers used Mykolaiv trolleybuses almost 1.5 million times. More than 250,000 fares were paid via QR code.
According to the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivelektrotrans», each new trolleybus is equipped with special passenger counting sensors that allow analysing passenger traffic on all city routes. Thanks to this data, the company can adjust timetables in a timely manner.
It is noted that the passenger counting system operates without personalisation — only the fact of entry and exit is recorded, without collecting personal data.
The company's director, Yurii Smetana, said that despite hourly power outages caused by shelling of energy infrastructure, the company managed not only to maintain but also to increase traffic volumes compared to the previous month.
The company noted that residents of Mykolaiv are more likely to use QR payment. This system allows you to transfer between trams and trolleybuses without extra charge within 90 minutes of the first payment — for just 8 hryvnias, while a ticket from the driver costs 10 hryvnias.
Payment can be made by bank card via Apple Pay or Google Pay by adding it to the national cashback programme.
Earlier, the executive committee of Mykolaiv City Council approved an updated network of trolleybus routes. Two new routes №11 and №12 were added to the network.
