Ukraine returns 205 more people from captivity, including defenders of «Azovstal» and Chornobyl NPP

On Thursday, 2 October, Ukraine returned another 185 defenders and 20 civilians from Russian captivity.

This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The released soldiers are from the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service. They also include the defenders of Mariupol, «Azovstal» and the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Most have been in captivity since 2022.

«We thank everyone who makes these exchanges possible. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, we have managed to bring home more than 7,000 of our people. We have to bring them all back. We are working on this every day,» the President wrote.

The Coordination Centre noted that the youngest released defender was 26 years old, and the oldest was 59.

They will undergo a full medical examination, receive assistance with physical and psychological rehabilitation, and all the state benefits provided for.

As a reminder, on 24 August, Ukraine's Independence Day, the marines from Mykolaiv who had been held in Russian captivity returned home.
