In Pivdenoukrainsk, the deputies did not support granting access to CCTV cameras in the city to the Centre for Digital Innovation of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Regional Guard». The issue was sent back for revision.

This became known during a meeting of the session of the Pivdennoukrainsk City Council.

During the consideration of the issue, the deputies expressed doubts. Andzhela Savastru, elected from the OPFL, noted that a strategically important enterprise operates in the city, so there are risks to data security and doubts about transferring access to a third-party utility company.

Denys Kravchenko, Secretary of the Pivdennoukrainsk City Council, explained that access to the cameras is provided for the Situation Centre system so that in case of crimes, it is possible to track the offenders through the cameras.

«For example, if a crime is committed in Mykolaiv, it will be possible to track their movements around the region without wasting time. The Situation Centre will respond and track the movements of these people», said Denys Kravchenko.

However, this did not calm the deputies down and they spoke out against granting such access: «We will now grant access with our own hands to whoever we want», the deputies said.

The decision was put to a vote, and two deputies voted in favour of «over». Due to the fact that the issue raised many questions, it was sent for further consideration.

As a reminder, police stations in eight frontline communities in Mykolaiv region have received modern equipment that will allow them to work during blackouts. The project was implemented with the support of the Government of Denmark and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine.

In September, the Mykolaiv Regional Guard told about the key areas of its work.

As a reminder, during a commission on 2 September, members of the city council discussed whether to allocate an additional 10 million hryvnias for the «Regional Guard». Some deputies doubted that the city would really benefit from this, as the company spends about 40 million hryvnias annually to maintain the enterprise.

In 2022, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, ordered the creation of the «Regional Guard», a people's guard to protect public order in the first days of a full-scale invasion.

Already in 2023, the Mykolaiv Regional Council increased the authorised capital of the «Mykolaiv Regional Guard» to 23.2 million hryvnias, allocating these funds from the budget. And 40 million hryvnias was allocated to the utility company from the Mykolaiv budget.

At the time, Vitalii Homerskyi, a deputy from «Servant of the People», chairman of the regional council's budget committee, commenting on the decision to allocate funds from the regional budget, said that the city should take on the responsibility for financing the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Regional Guard» to a greater extent.
