Today, on 30 August, a race took place in the centre of Mykolaiv «I honour the Warriors, I run for the Heroes of Ukraine». Hundreds of Mykolaiv residents gathered on Soborna Square to pay tribute to the fallen defenders of Ukraine.

Before the start of the race, participants received a number and a sticker with the name of the fallen hero in whose memory they were running and honoured the fallen with a minute of silence, the city council reported.

The course stretched along the main street of the city, Soborna Street, from Admiralska Street to the Regional Palace of Culture.

The race was attended by relatives of the fallen soldiers of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, volunteers, military personnel, sworn brothers, concerned citizens, representatives of NGOs, pupils of sports schools, representatives of the city and regional authorities.

First Deputy Mayor Vitalii Lukov ran in memory of his fallen colleagues, employees of the city council.

«I am taking part in the race to honour the memory of our colleagues who gave their lives for the future of Ukraine: Serhii Hussidi, Volodymyr Sokurenko, Vladyslav Yedalov and Illia Korzh», said Vitalii Lukov.
