Zelenskyy: There is an agreement with Russia on the exchange of 1200 people

After a meeting with National Security and Defence Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that there was an agreement with Russia to exchange 1,200 people, and work on the lists was underway.
The President announced this on his Telegram channel.
Rustem Umerov reported to Volodymyr Zelenskyy on communication with the Russian representative.
The President also mentioned that an audit of the implementation of the NSDC and the Stavka decisions is currently underway.
«Unfortunately, some decisions have not been implemented. This will be corrected immediately», he added.
As a reminder, in July 2025, Ukraine and Russia held the ninth stage of the prisoner exchange as part of the agreements reached during the second round of talks in Istanbul on 2 June. Many of those released had been in captivity for more than three years
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine has managed to return 5,857 people from Russian captivity. In addition, 555 were returned outside of exchanges.
