The Ukrainian Defence Forces have already completed more than 50% of the fortification work planned for 2025.

This was announced by Defence Minister Rustem Umierov during a conversation with journalists, reports «Ukrinform».

According to the minister, in 2024, military units completed almost all planned tasks — up to 99.9%.

Rustem Umierov stressed that the approach to construction has changed — it has been adapted to the new tactics of the Russian military. Now they are building more compact strongholds with 60-70 metres of communication lines and drone protection. This makes it possible to more effectively counter attacks by small enemy infantry groups that actively use UAVs.

The minister noted that modern fortifications are designed to meet the specific requirements of combat areas. They are carefully camouflaged to match the terrain, and their dimensions are reduced to avoid disguise on the battlefield.

Fortification works, according to Rustem Umierov, are carried out in close coordination with the command of the relevant troop groups.

Earlier, Bihus.info journalists found out that the company «Global Build Engineering», which is engaged in the construction of fortifications in the Kherson region, significantly overestimated the prices of construction materials. In addition, there are suspicions about its possible ties to an official of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
