On 19 June, Mykolaiv marines returned to Ukraine as part of a regular exchange of prisoners of war.
This was reported by the 36th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynskyi.
All of the released soldiers are defenders of Mariupol who spent more than three years in captivity. According to the brigade's representatives, each of the soldiers has severe injuries and serious medical diagnoses caused by both combat and inhumane conditions of detention.
«Each of them has serious medical diagnoses caused by injuries and harsh conditions of detention», the brigade said.
Upon their return, the soldiers will receive the necessary treatment and a long period of rehabilitation.
«The marines were welcomed back home by the brigade's patronage service. Together with their families, we share moments of joy and deep pride for their courage, endurance and indomitable spirit,» the statement reads.
On 19 June, another group of soldiers from the Armed Forces, the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service returned from Russian captivity. Most of them had been in captivity since 2022.
