Last night, Ukraine experienced one of the largest and most brutal attacks by Russia: the enemy fired more than 440 attack drones and 32 missiles, including at Kyiv.
This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In the capital, the entrance of a residential building was partially destroyed — people are still trying to get out from under the rubble. In total, buildings in 8 districts of the city have been damaged, and rescue operations are underway.
In addition to Kyiv, Russian troops also attacked Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Kyiv regions.
As of this morning, 15 people have been killed and over 75 wounded. All victims are being provided with assistance.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the attack was a terrorist act and called on the international community — in particular the US and the EU — to respond with a tough and decisive response:
«This is pure terror. Such actions must be met with a proper response. Terrorists should feel pain, not civilians», Volodymyr Zelenskyy added.
As a reminder, on the night of 17 June, Russian troops attacked Odesa with attack drones. The strike damaged residential buildings, an inclusive centre, a children's institution, garages and several cars. Fires broke out in the city.
Kyiv also suffered a large-scale missile attack from Russia. The strikes destroyed more than 40 apartments in a multi-storey residential building, and one of the entrances collapsed. Fourteen people were killed and 60 others were injured, and search and rescue operations are ongoing at the site of the high-rise building destroyed by a Russian missile.
