«This is a decision against people»: Aleksieiev about the city council, which failed to vote for the beach in the Namyv for the second time

Mykolaiv musician, public figure and freelance advisor to the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Volodymyr Alekseev commented on the failed vote to set up a cultural and leisure zone in the Namyv neighbourhood.

In his video address to the deputies, he stated that their decision was not directed against his initiative, but against the civilised and organised leisure of local residents, NikVesti.

In the video, the musician highlighted the problem of the lack of basic amenities for people who, while walking along the coastal area, do not even have the opportunity to use the toilet.

«And this happens all the time in the Namyv. People urinate at bus stops and shit in the reeds. Just this evening, while I was walking here, about 10 people went to relieve themselves in the reeds,» said Volodymyr Aleksieiev.

In addition, commenting on the decision of the city council to arrange the space on Namyv, he said that he was not offended by those deputies who were against it, because «understands how issues are being resolved in Mykolaiv».

«Dear residents of Mykolaiv, I am immensely grateful for your support and many of you have asked what is happening with Namyv. The situation is as follows. On 3 June, there was a regular session and the deputies failed to vote for the decision on the arrangement of this space for the second time. I thank every deputy who constantly votes «for», who supports us. I'm not offended by those who vote against it, because I understand that this is the way things are done in Mykolaiv for now. But I want to say one thing. The deputies did not vote against my issue, they voted against the residents of Namyv who live here, have a rest and want everything to be good. I am not a politician, not an official, I am not a competitor to anyone. I'm just asking you to listen to the residents once again and give us the opportunity to make Namyv a nice place with a toilet. I will continue to organise events for the city and fight to make sure that everything is as good as I can,» he added.

As a reminder, on 29 May, during the previous session, this issue was also not considered — the deputies did not get to it due to the loss of quorum. The day before, on 28 May, the city council's anti-corruption department sent a letter to the deputies recommending that they not vote for the allocation of this plot to Aleksieiev.

In response, Volodymyr Aleksieiev asked the mayor to give him the floor at the 29 May session to personally defend the project. However, he was absent from the continued meeting on 3 June.

On 3 June, the Mykolaiv City Council for the second time failed to support the issue of arranging a cultural and leisure zone by entrepreneur Volodymyr Aleksieiev.

It should be noted that on 29 April, the Mykolaiv City Council did not allow Aleksieiev to place temporary structures on the banks of the Southern Bug. At the initiative of Oleksandr Bereza, a deputy of the Mykolaiv City Council from the party «Proposal», this issue was excluded from the voting en bloc.

It is worth noting that in 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the «Golden Heart» award to Volodymyr Aleksieiev for his contribution to volunteer assistance and the development of the volunteer movement during the war in Ukraine.
