Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced the creation of the largest logistics hub in Europe. It will be built in the city of Śląwków in Silesia. According to the Prime Minister, this facility will play a key role in the future reconstruction of Ukraine.

This was reported by TVN24.

Donald Tusk noted that the modernisation of the existing infrastructure will double the terminal's cargo capacity. After the upgrade, it will be able to handle more than 500,000 standard containers a year.

Slavkuv is located at the junction of European standard gauge railways and the wide gauge (1520 mm) used in Ukraine in particular. This will allow for fast transshipment of cargo from east to west and vice versa.

The Prime Minister explicitly stated that Poland is not only seeking to help Ukraine, but also to make money from its reconstruction:

«We want to make a lot of money for Poland by rebuilding Ukraine. This is a normal approach — to help and at the same time to benefit», said Donald Tusk.

According to him, Slawków will become not only an important east-west route, but also a key point for north-south traffic.

Earlier it was reported that the United States would redeploy its military forces and equipment from Poland's Jasionka Airport, which has been a key logistics hub for military assistance to Ukraine since 2022. The statement said that this decision is part of a long-term strategy aimed at optimising military presence, strengthening allied support and improving the efficiency of operations.
