A shelter has been repaired in one of the gymnasiums in the Inhulskyi district of Mykolaiv. The shelter can accommodate up to 800 students.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv City Council.
The shelter has been equipped with ventilation, fire alarms, regular and backup lighting, Wi-Fi access points and a first-aid post. Bathrooms have also been built, one of which is adapted for children with special educational needs. In addition, there are locations for drawing and board games.
According to the director of the institution, Olena Viktorivna, the facility used to be a technical room that was not suitable for long stays. Now it is a modern and safe space where all the pupils and teachers of the gymnasium can stay at the same time during an air raid.
The project was implemented in cooperation with Save the Children.
As a reminder, an underground school shelter for 700 people was opened in the village of Molodizhne in Odesa region. It was built from scratch on the basis of the Molodizhne Lyceum.
